Django Unchained Dolls Pulled Off eBay
It seems stupidity knows no bounds. Following the cinema
release of Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie, action figures portraying the
on-screen characters of Django Unchained were found on shopping displays. The film
stirred up an entire pot of trouble over its depiction of racism, so the idea
to put these action figures on sale is bemusing, as I recall that it’s mostly
children who play with dolls, action figures and toys. Imagine your child
enacting a Blaxploitation scenario in the living room with Calvin Candie giving
Django a good spanking.
Most retail outlets and online company eBay have stopped the
sale of the collection. However, most kids won’t be buying these goods as their
parents wouldn’t have taken them to watch a rated R movie in the first place. The
buzz for the toy collection seems to be among older age groups and collectors,
who have gone all out to acquire the product following the restriction in
supply. Some characters were sold off for $5000 through intense bidding wars. Not
stupid after all.
