Syrup is a Movie on Marketing led by Amber Heard
Syrup Trailer
Syrup features Amber Heard. That is enough.
If it isn't it sees Shiloh Fernandez play Scat, a recent
marketing graduate who wants a slice of the fame and glory that he thinks
accompanies a successful career in marketing. He turns a rather old saying “sex
sells” into a gold mine and has to work alongside his boss 6 (Amber Heard) to
make it happen. Sparks fly and climbing the corporate ladder sends Scat into a
morality crisis. This is according to what is mentioned on the official website
of the movie.
It’s based on the best-selling novel by Max Berry and has
been taken by some to be defined as an edgy comedy, others calling it satire.
The latter may be right by looking at the trailer where there is definite
intended ridicule targeted at the subject of marketing, where it is simply
denigrated to “sex sells” and other clichés. Yet, a best-selling novel should
sell well at the movies, too. Amber Heard’s involvement in the movie may well
in fact test that legendary marketing fact which the movie is centered on,
whether “sex sells” or not.
Another Unique Selling Point: I think it's rated R. Just saying.
