Tom Hardy’s return to the mainstream cinema will take an unfortunate delay. This comes after news arrived regarding reshoots for the movie Mad Max: Fury Road. The franchise shot Mel Gibson into

Hollywood fame and may improve Hardy’s fortunes in a similar manner.

The movie has faced unprecedented difficulties from the very beginning, with financial difficulties and changes in filming locations. Filming was scheduled to commence in Broken Hill, New South Wales but unexpected rains turned the dry outback into a lush, verdant Greenfield. It’s highly unusual to see Mad Max wreaking havoc in such a setting, so production was shifted to Namibia. After that, the crew was accused of damaging the Namibian desert and endangering plant and animal species, another setback. The pictures released of the film set do create a feeling similar to the dystopian world of the original movies, so the reshoots may only make the movie better. Remember that World War Z also underwent several bouts of reshoots and the movie did feature a good plot with strong earnings, though deviating significantly from the source material. On this occasion, however, there is no book to base the film on so scrutiny will be milder. The only criticism may arise from older fans and movie goers who hold Mel Gibson’s original work in extremely high regard, in which case Hardy will have a hard time.

Hardy will star in a movie by the name of Locke this year, released a few days ago but the movie had a limited release. No trailers are available on YouTube or IMDb, so I don’t know what to make of it. Without doubt, though, he will make his macho return to screens in 2014 with Mad Max and Animal Rescue. The latter is not a kids’ movie but a crime drama, so you won’t think less of the actor.
